While I hate to admit it, there is something remarkably beautiful about the SARS-CoV-2 particle. Her colors are mesmerizing. Her blushing red core, veined with pinks and creams, makes her appear almost bashful. Her whimsical golden crust that varies in thickness makes her seem flirty and spontaneous. Her light aqua-blue spikes have just enough wavy form to elicit peaceful summertime memories. Each of her particles appear as unique as every snowflake is known to be that has ever enchanted winter. How might a thing this lovely, a thing this demur and unassuming, be so very cruel?

First, a Smidge of Riveting Therapeutic Babble

A completely open-mind is essential for a therapist to successfully discern data points, justify and validate assessments, and formulate an action plan that would enact desirable changes. Note that desirable changes in therapy are not necessarily positive or negative; rather, desirable changes are simply course corrections enacted by the patient either consciously or otherwise.

Having a completely open mind is nearly impossible for any person, and most clients are able to feel when a therapist forces open-mindedness. If a therapist dually employs creativity and objectivism then open-mindedness is a naturally unfolding experience for both client and therapist.

Therapy itself feels safe and accepting, even if the therapist is fully aware that the client’s perception and world-view is diabolically warped. The therapist also remains able to identify abuse, power/control cycles, and preferred defense mechanisms without eliciting feelings of disgust, shame, or guilt.

Some clinicians argue that abandoning all efforts toward increased open-mindedness is the most therapeutically open-minded action since only then is the therapist left with all their ugliness exposed for their client to observe. The core argument for using this somewhat archaic approach is that conflict between the therapist and client will quickly escalate due to the therapist’s inability to disguise their genuine bias.

The therapist’s bias is forcibly put on display during active session, mandating swift resolution of bias through naturally arising conflict. If the therapist’s biases are unyielding to the needs of the client then therapy and therapeutic intervention dissolves.

So, what does any of this have to do with SARS-CoV-2 and Amy Coney Barrett?

SARS-CoV-2 is the virus that causes the disease called Covid-19. This dynamic is similar to how unresolved social injustice causes explosive and destructive rage. As a disease, Covid-19 is confusing, erratic, complex, and though chaotic it is unyielding, powerful, and efficient.

The medical community has been chasing this disease with the success of chasing a forgotten memory. Each time the medical community thinks they have begun to understand some aspect of this unmapped disease, Covid-19 yields a worse and deadlier surprise — including the surprise of asymptomatic viral carriers, MIS-C, and MIS-A.

However, if we singularly observe the virus SARS-CoV-2, and we do so absent the realities that accompany its adjoining disease Covid-19, then we observe a very different entity. SARS-CoV-2 is methodical, patient, flexible, and she appears quite intellectual.

She is able to rapidly learn her newest host and, using a private and individualized method of maximum suffering, she unearths and then delivers each person’s worst possible fate. Even the individuals who she infects and leaves asymptomatic are intentionally treated as such. She is merely toying with their sense of hope and confidence, waiting to enact the very worst possible outcome, even if it takes months to unfold.

For example, she seems fully aware that while one person’s nightmare is experiencing severe illness, another person’s nightmare is unknowingly infecting someone they love and then watching that person suffer or die from severe illness. Make no mistake: SARS-CoV-2 acts with full agency and autonomy, and it does so with a lurid rawness that, to the wise, invokes great terror.

Miserable Twins: Barrett & Coronavirus

Barrett’s presentation during her Senate confirmation hearing mirrors how SARS-CoV-2 manipulates established medical truths and crumbles scientific pillars. Both SARS-CoV-2 and Barrett are too proud and too silent to resemble much beyond wild rage housed within consciousness so obscure that spectators pretend to see familiarity.

Barrett overtly mocked all serious questions posed to her by asserting haughty ethics, as if hypothetically gazing outside what she perceives as appropriate judicial boundaries was ridiculous even if confirmation hearings are held to ask those very hypothetical questions. SARS-CoV-2 is as equally repetitive and hostile as Barrett, and both are B-rated illusionists. Barrett plays her close-mouthed smirk off as a tired smile the exact way that SARS-CoV-2 returns with a positive test result even after multiple negative tests.

Ironically, both Barrett and SARS-CoV-2 actively want to declare themselves. Neither want to lurk in shadows, tip-toeing around their premier greatness for which they intrinsically know themselves to be.

Barrett has a brilliant legal mind, for she is able to successfully present a completely irrational argument by making opponents feel like her opinion is reasonable because it somehow should be reasonable. This feeling that Barrett masterfully engineers is a form of multi-dimensional shame undercut with implications of stupidity.

Barrett presents as docile and soft, and this routine compels her opponents into a muted dissent that equates to concession. Under her shine of smartness, Barrett wants a senator to ask her a simple question — perhaps one that is distractingly simple — such that she can let loose an answer so honest that even Jesus breaks out in leprosy. Maybe a question like, “What is something special about you?”

Her reply might be something like, “Oh, I plan to destroy every single law that equalizes society even to my own demise, and for this I am excited!” BWAHAHA!

This desire for discovery presses upon both Barrett and SARS-CoV-2 with uncanny relentlessness. Barrett appears to have done nearly everything possible to announce herself as anti-choice except to literally scream at senators that she intents on overturning Roe. SARS-CoV-2 wants discovery so badly that it has managed to shift loss of smell and taste from an obscure symptom to what the vast majority of infected individuals initially experience.

Barrett is no more pro-life than SARS-CoV-2 is anti-death. Barrett seems to only be pro-birth as evidenced by two prominent observations: 1) Barrett’s apathy toward and willingness to overturn the ACA and 2) hyper-spiritualism that causes overwhelming sensations specific to pronounced specialness, fortune-cookie wisdom, and false gratitude.

SARS-CoV-2 refuses to offer any preferred treatment, going so far as to ensure equality of the worst possible abuse and destruction. So cruel a mistress is SARS-CoV-2 that she discovered for many men a fate worse than death: she has begun to spin her viral load within male testicles, causing erectile dysfunction and infertility.

There is no vaccine available to cure our culture of Barrett or of SARS-CoV-2. These two thriving pandemics, both of which existentially threaten Americanism and Americans, are not intending evil or malice.

They just are what they are, for they have become what they have become.

Blame a little bat or blame a little cult — regardless, Barrett and SARS-CoV-2 manipulate humanity by demanding a deadly form of open-mindedness. They both sit pretty and polite, waiting to unleash their versions of social injustice and destructive rage, while we are preoccupied with creativity and objectivism, ascertaining our biases toward their very existence.

No titan is ever paired a fair match. Unfortunately, Barrett appears so adamant to prove that woman forget their proper place she already sparred with SARS-CoV-2 this past summer. Barrett acts as if she won this epic battle by refusing to wear a mask, and she might just believe herself the victor.

But, SARS-CoV-2 is literally from Hell while Barrett only has tentative plans to go to Heaven after her death. If Barrett truly understood the wicked nature of SARS-CoV-2, she would already know that this virus is awaiting her confirmation before enacting its wrath.

Do not forget that SARS-CoV-2 finds the very worst nightmare to fulfill! Might the virus wait until Barrett felt enthralled with herself, pressing her fancy new robe, and then cause delirium, show evidence of brain damage, or memory impairment, just like so many infected before her?

Besides, Barrett was recently celebrating herself at a super-spreader event in the Rose Garden. Might a virus be more clever than a ultra-conservative bigot? My clinical assessment is that while neither would fare too well in my therapy chair, both appear cocky enough to demand a free session during my lunch hour.
